Another Case of Mistaken Identity?
Laguna Greenbelt Inc. is gratified that you find us newsworthy enough to include in a letter caption, “Laguna Greenbelt Mistaken Identity” (Feb. 23), but take exception to your having done so in this case. Thomas Alexander, who made the mistake, did not refer to his past association with us in his letter. That irrelevance was supplied by Van Stephens and gratuitously amplified by The Times.
The Times should be more careful about attributions and captions, especially those with the potential for embarrassment of our, or any other, organization. To be fair, this rebuttal should be printed under the caption “Laguna Greenbelt Not Mistaken,” or perhaps “L.A. Times Mistaken Identity.”
