Elected representatives of the University of Georgia’s largest school approved a resolution asking the state Board of Regents to place the university’s beleaguered remedial studies program under faculty control. The program was at the center of a recent trial involving academic admission standards for athletes at the school.
In the resolution, which was adopted overwhelmingly, the Faculty Senate of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences also asked the regents to confirm the faculty’s authority to establish and enforce admission standards.
