How did Playboy get a modern gal like Sally Field into a bunny outfit for the March cover?
“It was unbelievably easy,” claimed art director Tom Staebler. “She liked the idea.” He noted that Barbra Streisand once squeezed willingly into a bunny costume (although another shot was used). “Those who don’t have a lot to prove seem to think it’s a campy thing to do,” said Staebler.
Field’s rabbit look is tied to an inside feature on new costume designs at the New York Playboy Club, which include an Indian bunny, a Statue of Liberty bunny, male bunnies--and a female Michael Jackson look-alike bunny.
