Local News in Brief : Fire Breaks Out at Studio City Nursery
- Share via
A fire at a plant nursery in Studio City early Friday morning caused about $125,000 in damage, Los Angeles fire officials said.
There was $50,000 in structural damage and $75,000 damage to plants at Sheridan Garden Nursery, 11239 Ventura Blvd., officials said.
The Fire Department’s hazardous materials team was called because burning fertilizer and pesticides can give off toxic gases. But Capt. Stephen Cohee said there was no problem.
Arson investigators said the 5:30 a.m. blaze did not appear to be connected to arsons at 15 San Fernando Valley flower shops since August.
The cause of the nursery fire was under investigation, but Cohee said it apparently was accidental.
