Drunk Defendants Can’t Breathe Easy in This Courtroom

SPARKS, Nev. — A judge got so tired of seeing defendants show up drunk in court--even some facing drunk-driving charges--that he brought a breath-testing machine into court to catch them.
“It’s becoming so common we have to do something about it,” Municipal Judge Don Gladstone said.
With his new breath-testing machine, the judge said, he can immediately decide on a person’s sobriety rather than sending the suspect to the Police Department for testing.
