Newport Beach : Ground-Breaking Set for Affordable Rentals
Ground-breaking for a new apartment building with 65 affordable rental units will take place Friday at 11:30 a.m, marking the culmination of a joint effort by the city and a local development company.
The Newport Sea Crest Apartment Development, 843 15th St., will offer 45 two-bedroom units to people or families who earn $27,500 a year, in addition to 20 one-bedroom apartments to people earning between $14,700 and $21,000 a year.
Craig Bluell, a senior city planner, said people who earn less than $14,700 will be given preference if they qualify for rental assistance under the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program.
The project is expected to be completed in early fall. People interested in more information can call Mesa Development Co. at (714) 979-9991.
