ROCK VICTIMS
Victoria Balfour may be correct when she says that “Everyone seems to think of the rock life as so glamorous. But the more I saw of that world, the more I began to see the wives as victims” (“ ‘Rock Wives,’ Happy Endings Amid the Dirt,” by Robert Hilburn, Feb. 2).
Unfortunately, Balfour failed to mention just what these women are “victims” of. Perhaps they are “victims” of their own genetic drive to acquire wealth and status in the easiest possible way (i.e., marry into it)?
The article also failed to mention that the offspring that may result from these relationships are, no doubt, very well provided for by the men.
