Placentia : 4 Arrested After 1 Tussles With Police
A Placentia man was booked into County Jail Friday on suspicion of trying to shoot a police officer with the officer’s own gun, investigators said.
Michael Sandoval, 19, was arrested after an altercation with Placentia officers at Arroyo Verde Park about 11:40 p.m. Thursday, police reported.
According to a police account, officers cruising past the park on East Palm Drive became suspicious of Sandoval and three other young men. Sandoval resisted arrest, fought with the officers and managed to grab one of their weapons, turning the gun on them, police said.
Officers overpowered Sandoval and arrested him. Mark Vargas, 19, of Placentia also was arrested and booked on suspicion of being under the influence of an opiate. Police also arrested two male juveniles accused of being under the influence of toluene, a liquid used in making dyes and other products which can produce a “high” through “paint sniffing.”
No one was injured during the incident, police said.
