University of Florida assistant track coach Clarence Daniel raced to a world-record time in the 500 meters at Gainesville, Fla.
Daniel, 24, competing in a six-way collegiate meet, turned in a time of 1:00.85 to erase the former world record of 1:01.24, set in 1985 by Willie Caldwell of Baylor.
