The “Commercial Transaction of the Year” award for 1985 has been given by the Chicago-based Commercial-Investment Real Estate Council to Clyta Polhemus of Modesto.
Also known as the William J. Campbell trophy, the award is presented annually to a member of the council who completes a commercial real estate transaction that exhibits creativity and the application of principles taught in the council’s educational courses.
In the award-winning transaction for 1985, Polhemus, a partner in the Velthoen Hughes Co., first purchased and then rehabilitated a 12,000-square-foot medical laboratory building. She then structured a sale of the building to a syndicator for the purpose of leasing most of the space to her client, a large medical group. The transaction took more than 18 months to complete and involved a sale of $1.3 million.
