Two 16-year-old boys were taken into custody in Lynwood when they were found driving a car that was registered to the mayor of Compton, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. The pair were halted when the 1980 BMW was seen moving erratically after 2 a.m. at Long Beach Boulevard and Fernwood Avenue, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported. One of the boys ran, but was soon found. Officers telephoned Compton Mayor Walter Tucker, who had not realized the vehicle was missing, officers said.
