A Walnut Park businessman was rescued from kidnapers who had demanded $100,000 for his return. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy John Broussard said Raul Mathews, 44, of La Mirada was abducted by gunmen who confronted him outside the sporting goods store he owns in Walnut Park. Shortly after the kidnaping, members of Mathews’ family received a telephone call demanding a ransom of $100,000. Undercover officers set up a meeting with the abductors and Mathews was rescued unharmed. Deputies arrested Beatriz Salcido, 26, of Van Nuys and booked her on suspicion of kidnaping for ransom. Two others were being sought, Broussard said.
