Thumbprints
This is in reference to the Los Angeles Police Commission’s new ordinance requiring thumbprints of customer of pawn shops and used merchandise vendors.
As a retired pawn shop operator, I wish to state that the only thing this ordinance will accomplish is to enhance the profits of the fences who will now be able to reap a bonanza from the thieves who will never be foolish enough to allow themselves to be fingerprinted. They will sell their stolen goods to a fence where no identification or thumbprints are required and the fence in turn will peddle the stolen goods to swap meet vendors.
