Maxicare Health Plans, a publicly traded health-maintenance organization, reported that net income for the year and fourth quarter rose 91% and 123%, respectively. In 1985, the Los Angeles company expanded operations into the city of Dallas and the states of Ohio, Louisiana, Nevada and Arizona. Also, the firm announced plans to operate an HMO in 1986 in the greater New York metropolitan area in a joint venture with five major teaching hospitals.
