AST Research Reports Net Income of $8.6 Million

Citing an overall strong demand for its personal computer products, AST Research Inc. of Irvine Tuesday announced record quarterly net income for its second fiscal quarter of $8.6 million.
For the period ended Dec. 31, the company had sales of $47.1 million, 46% above the $32.3 million in the year-ago period. The quarter’s profits were 102% higher than the $4.2 million posted in the prior year.
For the first six months of the fiscal year, the company reported net income of $16.7 million, a 156% jump from the $6.5 million recorded the year earlier. Sales for the period were $90.7 million, up 55% from $58.4 million a year ago.
