WE GET SOME RESPECT . . . OR NOT
In promising to improve the quality of programming on ABC, new honcho Brandon Stoddard recently told a gathering of TV writers: “There’s an audience that really wants shows that treat them with some respect and intelligence.”
Without making a lot of cheap-shot comments, just note some of the in-development pilots he’s inherited, as included in a listing in Drama-Logue:
“Wizard”--A construction worker learns he has the powers of a wizard, which he uses to help the downtrodden.
“Charlie Chan’s Granddaughter”--No description given (and none needed).
“Shady Ladies”--Two beautiful women in the Old West who move from town to town as entertainers.
“Kentucky”--Soap opera with a blue-grass setting.
“White Night”--Sir Lancelot and Mordred are transported to present day L.A. to accomplish 101 good deeds before they can return to Camelot.
“Kincaid”--Four former Secret Service agents turn into mercenaries.
“All for One”--A family of supersleuths.
“Sam and Terry”--An old cop and a young cop team up.
“Reddwhite & Blue”--A millionairess widow remarries and sets up a detective agency with her new private-eye hubby.
