Buena Park : Ex-Council Candidate’s Perjury Hearing Delayed
- Share via
The pretrial hearing for former Buena Park City Council candidate Steve A. Grasha, who has been charged with falsifying his place of residence on documents filed for his candidacy, has been postponed for the third time.
Grasha, 26, faces trial on four counts of perjury and one count of filing false nomination papers. The charges were filed less than a week before the Nov. 5 council election, in which Grasha placed seventh among 14 candidates.
North Orange County Municipal Judge John McOwen continued the hearing until Jan. 17 after Hector Chaparro, Grasha’s court-assigned public defender, requested the continuance Friday morning. Chaparro said he had not yet had sufficient time to prepare for Grasha’s defense. Chaparro was assigned to Grasha’s case in early December.
