Three teen-age boys whose disappearance Thursday while hiking on Palomar Mountain had prompted a nighttime search by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reappeared safely at their camp Friday morning, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
The boys’ disappearance had been reported Thursday evening, six hours after one boy’s father said they had set off from camp. They reappeared at 10 a.m. “in excellent condition,” having lost their bearings at nightfall and waited until dawn to find their way back, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
All three boys were from Stanton in Orange County. They were camping in Palomar Mountain State Park.
