A university report charged that Harvard Prof. Nadav Safran had erred in not disclosing that he received more than $150,000 from the CIA for a conference on the Middle East but said Harvard also was at fault for not enforcing research guidelines. “It has been open season on me for three months,” said Safran, who stepped down as director of Harvard’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies but will continue as a professor.
