NHL Roundup : Rookie Leads Canadiens, 7-3
Kjell Dahlin, the highest-scoring rookie in the NHL, scored twice at East Rutherford, N.J., to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 7-3 victory over New Jersey that broke the jam at the top of the Adams Division.
The Canadiens went into the game in a three-way tie with Boston and Quebec for first place.
Dahlin, a 22-year-old Swede, has 19 goals. He is fortunate because he plays on the same line with Mats Naslund, the league’s No. 2 scorer.
Naslund had three assists and has 61 points in 34 games. He trails Wayne Gretzky by 30 points in the scoring race.
Philadelphia 6, Vancouver 1--Tim Kerr scored three goals as the Flyers recovered from a slow start to overpower the Canucks at Vancouver.
