900 Britons Take Chilly North Sea Dip for Charity

SUNDERLAND, England — About 900 swimmers braved gale-lashed waves and 35-degree cold Thursday for a dip in the North Sea, organizers of the annual winter event said.
The day-after-Christmas event, organized by the Sunderland Lions Club and a national brewery, was held with the goal of raising $28,000 for local charities.
