Parking Tickets Voided : 155 Motorists Get Belated Gift
For those 155 motorists who received parking citations in West Hollywood on Christmas Day (and you know who you are), it is a belated happy holiday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, with the concurrence of the West Hollywood City Council, announced Thursday that all 155 of those tickets have been voided.
Sgt. Merlyn Poppleton explained that when the West Hollywood City Council decided that Christmas should not be observed as a civic holiday, the Sheriff’s Department deemed that holiday free parking at metered spaces should not be observed either and therefore wrote the citations.
The agencies have agreed that motorists should not be penalized for any resultant confusion, he said.
