Robinson-Humphrey Properties Inc. has signed an agreement with Bunker Hill Associates to build a 450-room luxury hotel at the $1.5-billion California Plaza project being developed by Bunker Hill Associates.
Atlanta-based Robinson-Humphrey Properties, a unit of American Express Co., will be the owner/developer of the hotel, according to William Hatch, president of Metropolitan Structures West Inc., managing partner of the 11.2-acre mixed-use development on Bunker Hill. The co-general partner is Cadillac Fairview/California Inc. and the limited partners are Shapell Industries Inc. and Goldrich, Kest & Associates.
Construction is planned to begin next fall, with a summer, 1988 opening. Robinson-Humphrey Properties plans to announce the hotel operator and architects after the first of the year, following preliminary approval of the design team and development agreement provisions by the Community Redevelopment Agency.
Robinson-Humphrey Properties has developed a 415-room Intercontinental Hotel at Hilton Head, S.C., and is building a 400-room hotel in Atlanta.
