Cal Baptist Tops The Master’s by Four in Final
Cal Baptist College outscored host The Master’s in the second half to win Friday’s championship game of the Canyon Tournament, 87-83.
Both teams were tied, 39-39, going into halftime. However, the Lancers came back strong in the second half and scored 12 unanswered points in a 3-1/2 minute stretch. The closest The Master’s could get was four.
Brad Reynolds led the win for Cal Baptist with 24 points and eight rebounds. Teammate Pat Green scored 20 points and had 10 assists, while Anthony Davis, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, scored 14.
Pete Coeler led the Master’s with 21 points. Dwayne lawrence scored 16, while kelly Byrd added 13 for the mustangs.
Cal Baptist is 7-7, while The master’s is 5-6.
In other tournament action, la Verne beat Occidental, 79-71.
