Dennis Rogers, who became the baseball coach at Southern California College in August, has resigned to accept a managing position in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league organization.
Rogers replaced Rich Emard, who resigned last summer after leading SCC to its first appearance in the NAIA World Series. He is leaving to manage the Pirates’ Double-A affiliate in Nashua, N.H. SCC Athletic Director Ron Prettyman is expected to name a successor next week.
Rogers spent three seasons with the Oakland A’s organization before taking the position with the Vanguards and also served as an assistant at Cal Poly Pomona for four years.
