The Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek suffered $750,000 in damage in a three-alarm fire set by an arsonist, authorities said. Police booked Kevin M. Jue, 24, a transient, on arson charges when he was spotted at the scene of the fire. Jue was accused of pouring flammable liquid onto the walls of the church’s choir practice room and igniting it. Police said that after Jue attended a service and was later suspected of stealing a wallet; he had been told not to return to the church.
