The United States and Vietnam completed their first joint excavation of a U.S. warplane crash site but held only slim hope of identifying missing American servicemen from the unearthed bone fragments. A spokeswoman for the American team said excavators stopped digging after having exhausted the possibilities of finding more remains at Yen Thoung, nine miles north of Hanoi, where a B-52 bomber was shot down in 1972.
