BILLINGS, Mont. — An 18-year-old amateur boxer from Gillette, Wyo., died Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital after falling through the ropes and striking his head on a table during a bout Friday night.
Wade Bisher died from head injuries received in the fight, one of 20 on a card sponsored by the Billings Amateur Boxing Assn., Yellowstone County Coroner Richard Taylor said.
A spokesman for the association, Jose Chavez, said Bisher, who was wearing a protective headgear, backed up against the ropes, fell through and struck his head on the timer’s table.
