Maid Arrested in Beating Death of Movie Executive
A 25-year-old Salvadoran woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Herbert Wallerstein, a former 20th Century Fox executive who was found beaten to death in his burning car Sept. 29, police said today.
Myra Edith Melendez Lopez, who formerly worked as a maid for the Wallerstein family, is being held without bail, Detective Pat Conmay said. Investigators said Lopez fits the description of a woman whom witnesses saw fleeing from the burning automobile in the 5000 block of Boda Place in Woodland Hills, about a quarter of a mile from his home.
Wallerstein, 59, had been missing almost two days when his body was found, police said.
