Master’s College Falls to Grand Canyon, 88-73

PHOENIX — Kevin Warren scored 23 points and Ron Monteverde added 16 Saturday night to lead Grand Canyon College to an 88-73 victory over The Master’s College basketball team in the season opener for both teams.
Grand Canyon jumped out to an early 19-point lead, but Master’s cut the deficit to 10 at halftime and pulled to within three points with 11:28 remaining in the game on a three-point play by Dwayne Lawrence. Grand Canyon stole a pass and converted a three-point play with 8:35 left to go ahead by seven points and then pulled away to the easy win.
Virgel Harraway led Masters with 19 points and Lawrence added 12.
