Defeated Democratic presidential candidate Walter F. Mondale has sent out a fund-raising letter asking his supporters to help pay off former rival Sen. Gary Hart’s $2.8-million campaign debt. Mondale and Hart were fierce rivals in the Democratic primaries, but Mondale pointed out in the three-page letter that, once he won the nomination, Hart was the first to join him on the podium at the Democratic National Convention.
