Cigar Smoker Prompts Unscheduled Landing

LONDON — A TWA airliner made an unscheduled landing here after an American got into a dispute with other passengers by smoking a cigar in a no-smoking area, police said Saturday.
The smoker, identified only as a 52-year-old American from Mississippi, was held for questioning while the Boeing 747, en route from Athens to New York, continued its journey after a four-hour delay Friday night, police said.
They had no details about how serious the row was but said the plane’s captain felt it could only be quelled by making the unscheduled stop at London’s Heathrow airport.
