The Legal Cost in Stadium Dispute
In the Oct. 24 Orange County section, it was revealed that the City of Anaheim spent $307,000 and the Angels $150,000 in legal fees to settle a dispute involving $62,000 a year in security costs at the stadium.
They settled out of court (thereby saving lots of additional legal costs) and split the costs over the two years involved.
What has happened to common sense and reason, spending collectively $457,000 to decide who will pay $62,000 a year?
The only winners here are the attorneys, who still left the door open for another suit to decide who pays in 1987. The losers are the taxpayers and the Angel owners.
A coin flip could have handled this issue.
