Ethiopian Leader Talks With Soviet Officials

MOSCOW — Ethiopian leader Mengistu Haile Mariam thanked Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev on Friday for aid and famine relief and pledged support for Soviet policy.
Mengistu, whose Marxist government has received strong Soviet backing since 1976, met Gorbachev and other senior Soviet officials on the second day of his visit here.
