Despite a modest recovery Thursday, CompuSave Corp. stock dipped Friday in over-the-counter market trading to $3.625 a share on heavy volume, just two days after posting a severe drop in price on rumors circulated by an anonymous letter-writer. Friday’s close left the issue 37.5 cents a share lower for the day and $1.50 a share lower for the week. Brokers and company officials privately speculate that the letters are the work of short-sellers who hope to make a profit on the stock. Others in the investment community suspect a disgruntled company employee is responsible for the letters. CompuSave currently is preparing a rights offering that it hopes will generate more than $5 million in cash.
