Westworld Community Healthcare Inc., the Lake Forest-based rural health systems operator, said Thursday that net income reached $999,000 in the third quarter, up 66% from $601,000 a year earlier. Revenue for the period, according to Michael D. Dunn, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, more than tripled to $38.8 million from $12.8 million.
Net income for the first nine months of 1985 more than doubled to $2.7 million from $1.2 million, while revenues of $92.2 were almost triple the $31.9 million of a year earlier.
Westworld also said Thursday that Stephen F. Arterburn, previously a vice president in operations with Comprehensive Care Corp. in Newport Beach, has been named Westworld’s executive vice president.
During the third quarter, Westworld added five rural health care facilities to its operations, bringing the total to 32 rural hospitals and clinics in 13 states. It also operates two alcoholism care units.
Additionally, the company said it has signed a definitive agreement to serve the community of Dos Palos, Calif., where the city’s hospital will fully convert to Westworld operation early in 1986.
