House OKs Overtime Pay Option

WASHINGTON — The House, moving to nullify a Supreme Court ruling, voted today to allow state and local governments to continue offering time off in lieu of overtime pay.
The bill, similar to a measure approved last week by the Senate, is supported by business and labor groups as a compromise intended to save state and local governments millions of dollars in overtime pay. The Supreme Court ruled in February that state and local governments are required to pay overtime to all employees who work more than 40 hours a week.
