Two French supertankers were sold for scrap.

The Batillus and Bellamya have been sold to Taiwan and South Korea, respectively, for scrap, the owner, Shell France, announced. The tankers, each weighing 553,000 tons and ranked among the largest in the world, were built in 1976 by a French shipyard but have been laid up for the past three years because of the poor market for oil transport by supertankers.
