Diluted Philippine Typhoon Kills 22

MANILA — At least 22 people were killed and thousands of houses destroyed as a typhoon battered the central and northern Philippines, relief workers and the official Philippine News Agency reported Saturday.
Relief agencies said more than 100,000 people were evacuated, including 65,000 in the Bicol region of the central Philippines, which was hit by the storm Friday before it moved north.
Typhoon Dot split into two storms before reaching Manila, and this may have saved many lives, officials added.
