Monterey Park : City Hires Architectural Firm
- Share via
The Monterey Park City Council has hired an architectural firm, RNR/Shima of Los Angeles, to devise a master plan for the area southeast of Ramona and Newmark avenues, where both the city library and the Girls and Boys Club are considering expansion. The architect will look at the need for additional parking as well as a means of accommodating building plans.
The council voted 4 to 1 this week to offer to buy a lot at 132 Newmark Ave., which is being offered for sale at $110,000, and to make a backup offer on another lot that is in escrow. The city staff recommended that the city acquire property in the area as it comes on the market while the master plan, which will take several months to prepare, is being completed.
