Pianist Emil Gilels Dies in Moscow at 68

LONDON — Emil Gilels, widely considered one of the greatest concert pianists of the century, has died in Moscow, his British agent said today. He was 68.
The agent, Wilfred Stiff, said the Soviet performer, who died Monday, had a history of heart trouble. His greatest triumph came in 1955, when he gave his first U.S. concert--the first Soviet artist to visit America since the composer Sergei Prokofiev in 1921.
