It won’t change the outcome of the game, but the Indianapolis Colts have been informed by the National Football League that officials working their game last Sunday made a mistake on a crucial call.
Coach Rod Dowhower said the NFL office confirmed Thursday that Indianapolis had moved the ball for a key first down near the New York Jets’ four-yard line, but that the officials erred in spotting the ball.
The fourth-quarter placement forced the Colts to go for the first down on a fourth-down play, which produced no gain. The Jets went on to win, 25-20.
