Major league umpires may strike postseason play for the second consecutive year in a dispute over the expanded format for league playoffs, according to the Associated Press.
Richie Phillips, head of the umpires’ union, confirmed that the umpires have discussed the matter with presidents of both the National and American Leagues. But he said little progress had been made toward a settlement and there is a chance that both the playoffs and the World Series would be struck.
