Anaheim : Bureau Reports 11.5% Increase in Tourists

Two million more tourists visited Anaheim during the first seven months of 1985 than during the same period last year--an increase of 11.5%, according to figures released last week by the Anaheim Visitors and Convention Bureau. Between January and the end of July, Anaheim was host to 19.4 million visitors compared to 17.4 million in 1984. The bureau blames last year’s lower figures on concerns by potential visitors over crowds and congestion caused by the Summer Olympics.

During the first eight months of this year, about 605,000 people have used the city’s hotels or convention center for trade shows or conventions. Last year, during the same period, 543,000 people attended conventions or trade shows in Anaheim. The Visitors and Convention Bureau anticipates more than 30 million visitors before the end of the year.
