Reagan to Have 1st Tests Since Cancer Surgery

CONCORD, N.H. — President Reagan, who underwent major cancer surgery two months ago, will have his first post-operative checks Friday, the White House announced today.
Reagan will return to Bethesda Naval Hospital for “his normal and routine” examinations, including chest X-rays and blood tests, the White House said in a written statement released as Reagan visited Concord to stump for his tax reform plan.
It said results of the tests will be announced next week.
Reagan underwent surgery to remove a malignant growth from his intestine on July 13. Doctors then said they believed that the operation had removed all the cancer and that Reagan, 74, would live a normal life span.
Early last month the President had a minor skin cancer removed from his nose and doctors advised him to stay out of the sun.
