Minnesota Fats Fined for Theft
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Minnesota Fats said today he put a $1.99 box of Ex-Lax in his pocket while shopping because his hands were full, and before he had a chance to pay for it he was arrested for shoplifting.
“They snatched me like I was a bank robber,” the legendary pool player said. “I was buying milk and cookies and a woman (security guard) grabbed me. I was still in the store.” Fats was arrested Wednesday and said police told him to pay the $62.50 fine. “I thought it was much better than to go to court,” he said, adding that he signed autographs in the police station afterward.
