Local News in Brief : Arraignment Set in Explosives-Drugs Case

A Simi Valley man arrested last week after police found an active land mine and more than $20,000 worth of drugs in a storage locker he rented will be arraigned Wednesday, Simi Valley police said. Two other men arrested in the case were released last week.
Thomas Kennedy, 25, James Cole, 19, and Steven Walhstrom, 25, all of Simi Valley, were arrested Thursday after police fired 10 rounds of tear gas into Kennedy’s home in the 2800 block of Lemon Drive. There were no injuries.
Kennedy was arrested on suspicion of possessing a destructive device, possessing methamphetamines for sale and possessing marijuana for sale. He is being held in Ventura County Jail on $100,000 bail, Cullen said.
Cole and Wahlstrom were released and no charges will be filed against them, Cullen said.
