British Airliner Crashes With 137 Passengers

MANCHESTER, England — A British Airtours Boeing 737 crashed on take-off and caught fire today at northern England’s Manchester airport, news reports said. A police spokesman said the fire was “very serious” and many casualties were feared.
The British domestic news agency Press Association said the plane carried 137 passengers.
The Greater Manchester fire service said the aircraft was on fire and they believe there were people trapped on board
The fire service has sent 10 fire engines to the scene to join the airport’s own team of seven fire engines fighting the fire.
