Writer Praised for Watts Piece

How refreshing it is.

To begin with, we always hear of people moving OUT of Watts . . . never into it. So as both a South-Central Los Angeles native and a black journalist, I found Ron Harris’ perspective on his new community compassionate and accurate.

Watts is a name that conjures up bleak images. But it is home for people whose dreams and aspirations are as American as anyone else’s. In Watts, dreams are often all one has.

Hooray for Ron Harris! We need more people with his vision and his courage.
