ANKARA, Turkey — Two Soviet engineers crossed the Black Sea in a rubber boat and asked for political asylum in Turkey, the semi-official Anatolian News Agency said Tuesday.
They reached the port of Samsun after traveling for five days from Anapa, near Novorossiysk, a distance of some 250 miles, it said.
The agency named the men as Merat Garimov and Oleg Emilianov. It said they are still in Samsun but gave no other details.
